“He (Vaiko) has not said anything with regard to elections,” EC’s legal adviser S K Mendiratta told reporters when asked whether the poll panel would take suo motu cognisance of the MDMK leader’s statement.

Mendiratta said it was for the Centre and the state government to take note of the issue.

Addressing a protest demonstration in Chennai last week, Vaiko had warned of a “bloodbath” in the state if “something” happened to LTTE leader V Prabhakaran in the ongoing offensive by the Sri Lankan army in the island nation’s Tamil areas.
