The Delhi Police may transfer cases of its officers accused of taking bribes from Lalila Park building collapse accused Amritpal Singh Sachdeva to the vigilance departments in different agencies or the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is concentrating on nailing Amritpal Singh Sachdeva for the structural violations he did rather than on who all he paid in different government agencies.
The noose seems to be tightening around Sachdeva with the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police dissecting the flaws in ill-fated the building floor by floor.
According to Crime Branch sleuths, Sachdeva has named a few people from whom he bought low quality building materials. As the floors came up at different intervals there were quite a number of building contractors he allegedly used to buy such materials from.
The crime branch had earlier brought in experts who are looking into all the flaws in the building. "We are trying to establish all the flaws in the building. The kind of materials he used in construction. All this would be used to build a case against him," said Ashok Chand, deputy commissioner of police (Crime).
The police are also in the process nabbing contractors who sold Sachdeva some of the building materials he used to construct the building. The Delhi Police is already charging Sachdeva for a number of other crimes to build a strong case against him.
Earlier the police even found out that the rates Sachdeva had apparently fixed for each and every government official he allegedly paid up.
"He claimed that he paid a number of officials in Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Police. However, we are concentrating more on building a case against Sachdeva. We would investigate the bribery charges later as and when we are able to collect evidence against accused officials," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
