A woman patient allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a hospital building in central Delhi on Wednesday, says the police.

A woman patient allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a hospital building in central Delhi on Wednesday, police said.

Vijay Lakshmi, 44, admitted in GB Pant Hospital with mental ailment for the last few days, jumped from the hospital's building at around 7.30 in the morning. No suicide note has been recovered yet.

The victim was a resident of Bapa Nagar in Karol Bagh, central Delhi.

"Initial investigations suggest that she was mentally ill and was under depression. Her illness might have forced her to take such an extreme action," a police official said.

Police said a case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
