The incident was reported on Wednesday from Paharganj when the victim, Chandrawati, was at her home. Her brother Subhash visited her home on Wednesday when he found her address.

“Subhash insisted that she accompany him to his house. When she refused, he stabbed her,” said Vivek Kishore, DCP (central). She was rushed to Lady Hardinge Hospital where she was said to be stable.

Police said they have registered a case under section 324 IPC (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) at Paharganj police station.

Police said the couple had not asked for any police protection.

In June this year a married couple was beaten, electrocuted and then shot dead in Ashok Vihar area of northwest Delhi. The couple who belonged to different castes, married in 2006 and the woman’s brother planned the murder with her friends after he felt humiliated due to the neighbours’ taunts.
