Two women were waylaid and robbed at gunpoint by two motorcycle-borne youths in north Delhi on Saturday night, police said.

According to the police, Rajrani Gupta, her daughter-in-law Veenu and two of their relatives were on an evening walk when the men stopped them near the Shakti Nagar around 10 pm.
“The assailants, who were on a black motorcycle, screeched to a halt dangerously close to the women with the pillion rider firing once in the air and snatching Veenu’s mangalsutra,” a senior officer said.
The police said the pillion rider then pointed his country-made firearm at Veenu, a Shakti Nagar resident, and told her to give them her valuables.
“Veenu took off two diamond rings and handed them over. She also claims to have sighted another of their associates, who was keeping an eye on the scene from another motorcycle parked at a distance,” the officer said.
The duo sped away after firing another shot in the air.
