BSEB compartmental result 2017: Overall pass percentage is 71%, 72.75% pass in arts

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Saturday declared the Intermediate or Class 12th arts, science, commerce and vocational compartmental examination results 2017.
Out of 1,30, 741 candidates who appeared in the examination, 93,295 passed, which is a pass percentage of 71.36%. Last year, the pass percentage was 40.43%.
“For the first time in the history of BSEB, the results of compartmental examination have been declared within one month after the examination. The examination was conducted between July 3 and 13, this year. Last year, the results were declared on December 22. Even before, in the year 2015, 2014 and 2013, the results were declared in the month of October. This could be possible because of computerisation system in the board, that was introduced this year,” said BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor.
Out of 93,295 candidates who passed the examination, 6,517 passed with first division, 73,977 with second and 12, 801 with third division. Not more than 11 candidates were expelled during the examination for using unfair means, and all of them were from arts stream.
Interestingly, girl candidates outshone boys again. Out of the qualifying candidates, 48,878 girls passed as against 44,417 boys. The number of girl candidates appearing in the examination were less than boys. A total of 65,185 girls and 65,556 boys appeared.
A total of 40,593, out of 55,798 candidates who appeared from arts stream, passed the examination making it a pass percentage of 72.75%. In commerce stream, 2,272 candidates out of 3,292 passed the examination, making it a pass percentage of 69.02%. In science, the pass percentage is 70.38 as 50,430 candidates passed out of 71,651 who appeared. In the vocational stream, 99 out of 158 candidates who appeared, passed the exam, which is a pass percentage of 63%.
A special examination was also conducted for the first time by the BSEB for those who could not fill registration form and did not appear in the main intermediate examination. A total of 1,477 students took this exam, out of which 637 passed. Out of the 637 who passed, 142 got first division, 421 second division and 74 third division.
From this year onwards, students are able to appear in the compartmental examination for two papers. Earlier they could appear in any one paper only.
