This is the second year, the admissions to MBBS course in the 13 All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry, will be made through NEET following the amendment in National Medical Commission Act, 2019, passed by Parliament last year.

Last year, girls had outperformed boys in the NEET examination. Out of the 771500 qualified candidates, 427943 were female candidates, and 343556 were male candidates.

While allowing the NTA to release the NEET result, the SC said it will see what can be done to the two students who had approached HC and complained of loss of time.

Odisha boy Soyeb Aftab (18) had scored 720 out of 720 marks in NEET 2020 exam. Akanksha Singh, from Delhi, had also scored 720 marks but bagged AIR 2 as she was younger to Soyeb Aftab. 

Till last year, age was taken into consideration to resolve tie-breaking cases.

The ranking of the candidate is initially determined based on the scores obtained in biology and chemistry.

As per NTA guidelines, The NEET result may be utilized by other Entities of Central and State Governments, in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. 

The result data will also be utilized for B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. 

The NEET data will also be used for admissions to BVSc & AH courses under the 15% quota of VCI in recognized Veterinary Colleges. However, the Council has to approach the MCC of DGHS, MoHFW in order to obtain the said data of results.

In comparison to last year, this year NEET result has been delayed. Last year, the NEET result was declared on October 18.

Over 7.7 lakh candidates out of the over 13.66 lakh candidates had qualified the exam last year from Uttar Pradesh.

This year, the age factor has been removed from the criteria of deciding the inter-se merit of candidates in tie-breaking cases.

The inter-se merit will be decided in the given order: Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany and Zoology) in the test, followed by candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the test, followed by candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test.

NEET students have heaved a sigh of relief as SC paves way for result declaration.

All disputes pertaining to the conduct of the NEET including results shall fall within the jurisdiction of Delhi/New Delhi only. Further, any legal question arising out of the Examination shall be entertained only when raised within 30 days from the declaration of result.

The record of NEET result would be preserved only up to 90 days from the date of declaration of result.

There is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of NEET answer sheets, the NTA has said.

The NEET 2021 result will be released on neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can check the result using registration details and date of birth.

Close to 16 lakh candidates had appeared for the single medical entrance examination on September 12. The result is expected soon at neet.nta.nic.in.

The Supreme Court on Thursday has taken in cognizance the NTA's plea and has allowed it to release the NEET 2021 result.

The exam was held on September 12 and close to 16 lakh students had appeared for it.
