Two of three sports category toppers in Class-10 PSEB exams, results of which were declared on Wednesday, are from Ludhiana.

From playing softball to scoring cent percent marks in Class 10 exams, Ritika has always proved her mettle in whatever she did. Ritika, a student of sports category, who hails from Mundian Kalan, always developed her interest in softball later in her life and has represented her school at state-level softball championship.

“I was since beginning fond of playing badminton, but gradually shifted to softball,” Ritika says. “Playing keeps my mind and body relaxed and has helped me in maintaining a healthy balance between academics and co-curricular activities.” For Ritika, meditation and yoga also played key roles to help her achieve this feat.

Ritika says, “I was surprised when I got to know about the result. I used to be a very notorious child, but wanted to do something for my parents who have helped me in every aspect of life. To make my parents proud someday and buy a house for them is my sole goal in life.”

Ritika aspires to join the Indian Air Force. “I am looking forward to crack the NDA exam, for which I have already started preparing. It has always been a dream for me to fly high and I hope and pray my dreams soon get wings,” she adds.

Her father, Pramod Kumar, says, “I am so proud of the feat she has achieved. Everything I have done in my life after battling financial crisis has paid off.”

Pramod, who works as a supervisor in a private company, was in tears during the interview. Ritika says she would continue with sports along with pursuing her dream of flying high.
