PSEB Class 10 result: Newspaper hawker’s son bags 5th position with 97.5%

His father Surinder Gupta, who supplies newspapers at the Air force’s base on the Ajnala road, said he has been feeling proud that his son brought laurels not only to the family and the school but also to the district.

Raghav Gupta, son of a newspaper hawker, Surinder Gupta, has grabbed the 5th position in the merit list of Class 10 results announced by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) here on Tuesday afternoon.

Hailing from Ram Avenue near New Amritsar, Raghav was a student of of Jagat Jyoti Senior Secondary School (JJSSS).

With 97.5 % marks (634 out of 650), Raghav stood first in Amritsar district. Talking to HT, he said he used to study for more than six hours daily. “My ambition is to become a renowned scientist. Now, I have taken admission in Class 11 in non-medical stream. I will continue to study to achieve my goal and will try to get 1st position in Class 12 board exams,” he said.

His father Surinder Gupta, who supplies newspapers at the Air force’s base on the Ajnala road, said he has been feeling proud that his son brought laurels not only to the family and the school but also to the district. He said he will encourage his son to work harder.

Raghav is the younger son of Surinder Gupta and Sunita Gupta while their elder son is an employee of HDFC Bank in Khemkaran, a border village in Tarn Taran district. Raghav’s mother Sunita Gupta said, “In exams, Raghav used to do study till late night. His handwork has finally paid. I hope my son continues to do the same to make us proud.”

Principal of JJSSS, Sumit Puri said Raghav has made them proud. He said, “The boy has been standing first every year. He used to spend his free time in the school’s library. He is a follower of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.”
