Election Results 2022 Live Updates: An impressive performance by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in assembly elections has helped it retain power in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, while a relatively newer Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has snatched Punjab from Congress's claws. In UP, the combination of PM Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath has worked wonders, with BJP looking set to win over 250 seats in the 403-member assembly. The AAP, on the other hand, has made a giant leap in Punjab as it won three-fourths of seats in the 117-member assembly.

Most of the exit polls predicted a clear victory for the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, an edge in Uttarakhand, and a close contest in Goa. Congress was betting against the exit poll results for Punjab, where it was incumbent, and hoping that the neck-to-neck fight in Goa and Uttarakhand, as predicted by the pollsters, turned out in its favour. But BJP has been successful in keeping Congress out of power in all those states.
