Election Results highlights: BJP dominates 2022 semifinal before 2024 battle

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the people of Punjab after the party's sweep in the state assembly elections, which he described as 'Inquilab', or revolution. AAP is leading on 90 seats in the 117-member assembly.

After eight rounds of counting, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi continues to trail behind the AAP candidate from Chamkaur Sahib.

Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya is trailing by 3,380 votes after five rounds of counting. Maurya has secured 13,979 votes while Apna Dal (Kameravadi) leader Pallavi Patel, who is contesting on SP symbol, has bagged 17,359 votes.

"As an Independent candidate it was a good fight, I thank the people. Satisfied with the fight but result is little disappointing," ANI quoted Utpal Parrikar, son of late CM Manohar Parrikar, as saying. 

Parrikar left the counting centre after trailing by 713 votes in Panaji.

AAP leader Manish Sisodia said Punjab has given a chance to Arvind Kejriwal's model of governance, which has been established at the national level. He admitted that the party had fielded candidates in Goa, Uttarakhand and UP but “somewhere the focus was on Punjab”, reported ANI. 

“Gradually people in these states will also start to believe in our party,” he added.

UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has now taken a lead in the Sirathu assembly constituency seat by over 800 votes, according to poll trends. He was earlier trailing is trailing by 455 votes after the second round of counting.

"These are initial trends so we will have to wait till 2 pm for the entire picture to be clear. Aam Aadmi Party is leading in Punjab, there is a good contest going on in Uttarakhand, the situation in Goa is still unclear, BJP is leading in UP. I am confident that Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party is giving a tough fight to BJP in UP," said Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on the initial trends of counting in five states.

Bhagwant Mann is leading from Dhuri with 18,544 votes, while Congress candidate Dalvir Singh Goldy is behind with 6,101 votes

AAP candidate Jeevanjyot Kaur is leading over her nearest rival Bikram Majithia by a margin of 590 votes.

Jagdeep Goldi Kamboj is leading with 3,546 votes over SAD(B) Chief Sukhbir S Badal.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami trailing by 945 votes in Khatima assembly constituency.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, contesting his first assembly election, has taken a massive early lead in Karhal by 7000 votes against BJP candidate.

Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi is trailing from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur, the two assembly seats from which he was contesting the assembly elections. Chamkaur Sahib is considered a known turf for Channi who has represented the constituency in the assembly for three terms since 2007. The Bhadaur seat in Aam Aadmi Party’s stronghold Malwa was a bit of uncharted territory for him.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has built on its early gains and seems to be taking a massive lead over its main rival Samajwadi Party. According to the latest trend, BJP is leading on over 150 seats while Samajwadi is leading on 48. Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress are leading on four seats each.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which got off to a slow start in Punjab, has gained an edge over the Congress, which installed Charanjit Singh Channi as the state’s first Dalit chief minister four months before the elections. The AAP is leading on 18 seats in contrast to the Congress, which is ahead on 6 seats. The Shiromani Akali Dal-led alliance and the BJP-led coalition is ahead on 7 and 3 seats, respectively.

Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is trailing in the first round of counting. AAP candidate Ajitpal Kohli has secured a lead of 3575 votes in the first round.

In Manipur, where many exit polls predicted a clear win for the Bharatiya Janata Party, the party has begun preparations for celebrations before the first vote was counted. In contrast, the Manipur Congress office wore a deserted look, indicative of the state unit’s expectations.

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party leader Omprakash Rajbhar, an ally of the Samajwadi Party, is trailing from the Zahoorabad constituency. SP's Kishan Dixit is ahead of BJP's Neelkanth Tiwari from Varanasi South assembly constituency. BJP has been winning from Varanasi South since 1989.

BJP's Alka Singh is leading in Sandila Assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh, according to the ECI website.

Congress has edged ahead of BJP in early trends in Goa assembly elections while lost the initial gains in Punjab against the AAP. Kejriwal's party is leading in six assembly seats in Punjab as against four for Congress.

The BJP is leading in 9 seats in Uttarakhand, while Congress is leading in 7, according to the early trends. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami Dhami is leading from Khatima assembly constituency.

Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Sarabjit Singh Sabi is leading with 201 votes from the Mukerian seat of Hoshiarpur district against BJP's Jangi Lal Mahajan, according to ECI.

The early trends in Uttarakhand reflected the neck-and-neck race predicted by exit polls. The BJP, according to reports, was ahead on 7 seats and the Congress, on 6. To be sure, there has been no word from the election commission on the leads on any of the seats.
