Most of the exit polls predicted a clear victory for the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, an edge in Uttarakhand, and a close contest in Goa. Congress was betting against the exit poll results for Punjab, where it was incumbent, and hoping that the neck-to-neck fight in Goa and Uttarakhand, as predicted by the pollsters, turned out in its favour. But BJP has been successful in keeping Congress out of power in all those states.

Manohar Parrikar's son leaves counting centre after rival takes unassailable lead
"As an Independent candidate it was a good fight, I thank the people. Satisfied with the fight but result is little disappointing," ANI quoted Utpal Parrikar, son of late CM Manohar Parrikar, as saying.
Parrikar left the counting centre after trailing by 713 votes in Panaji.

Sisodia says AAP's focus was on Punjab, other states will start to believe in party gradually
AAP leader Manish Sisodia said Punjab has given a chance to Arvind Kejriwal's model of governance, which has been established at the national level. He admitted that the party had fielded candidates in Goa, Uttarakhand and UP but “somewhere the focus was on Punjab”, reported ANI.
“Gradually people in these states will also start to believe in our party,” he added.
UP Deputy CM takes lead in Sirathu after trailing in initial rounds
UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has now taken a lead in the Sirathu assembly constituency seat by over 800 votes, according to poll trends. He was earlier trailing is trailing by 455 votes after the second round of counting.
