In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Bhalki constituency. Bhalki was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Eshwar Khandre won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's D K Sidram by a margin of 21,438 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Eshwar Khandre got a total of 84,673 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's D K Sidram secured 63,235 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Khandre Prakash secured 15,142 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.0%, 38.1% and 9.1% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Eshwara S/o Bhimanna Khandre outperformed Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Sidram S/o Dhulappa by 9,669 votes.
