Jarkiholi got a total of 73,512 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Astagi Maruti Mallappa secured 70,662 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Shankar Bharama Gasti secured 1,837 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.7%, 47.8% and 1.2% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Satish Laxmanarao Jarakiholi beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Astagi Maruti Mallappa by 24,350 votes.
