Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Khajuri area of Varanasi, union home minister Amit Shah campaigned in Malhani assembly constituency of Jaunpur and chief minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned in Sonbhadra, Azamgarh, and Bhadohi.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav addressed a public meeting in Azamgarh while Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi did a road show in Jaunpur.
Voting will take place in 54 assembly constituencies of nine districts of east UP, including Varanasi, on March 7.
In 2017, out of 54 seats, BJP and its allies won 36 seats, SP 11 and BSP 6 and Nishad Party one seat.
