The much-awaited monsoons have finally arrived, and the sweet smell of moist earth is all around. HT City tells you how to make the most of this romantic weather to have the perfect date.
Head towards Delhi-Jaipur highway. No need to take the entire 247 km-stretch that connects the national capital to the Pink City. You can turn back your wheels half way. The highway offers a beautiful view, smooth lanes, small dhabas and restaurants. There are also a number of resorts on the way ideal for this season. Just roll down the window and put on a romantic number.
Under the stars
A cup of coffee with hot and crispy snacks in an alfresco seating (under the umbrella, of course) is a perfect plan for a date. Delhi offers a range of open-air cafes where you can enjoy the monsoon with your beloved. You can go to Le Cafe in N-block, GK I; Big Chill Cafe in Khan Market; Park Balluchi in Hauz Khas Village, among others. For a romantic dinner, try places such as Legends of India in Connaught Place and Magique at the Garden of Five Senses, Said-ul-Ajaib.
Nothing can beat the old traditional outing of going to the famous gardens of Delhi during this season. All you need is an umbrella and your beloved by your side. Enjoy the greenery, cold breeze and, of course, some privacy. You can head to Lodhi Garden, India Gate Lawns, Rose Garden or the Indraprastha Park.
Chai and pakoras
For a pocket-friendly date, enjoy a hot cup of tea with some freshly fried samosas and pakoras at a roadside thella. Forget all about being sophisticated; come out, get wet and enjoy the season.
If you love getting adventurous then a water park is the right place for you. Turn your monsoon date into a fun filled affair. Some of the popular spots are Fun and Food Village (Gurgaon), Splash Water Park (GT Karnal road) and Wet ‘n’ Wild (Delhi-Jaipur Highway).
