Aamir Khan's relationship with freedom fighter and scholar Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is well-known. The actor and his wife Kiran Rao even named their son Azad, after his great-grand-uncle. As if that wasn't enough to prove his commitment towards his roots and family, the actor has now done something special to celebrate elder sister Nikhat's 50th birthday.

On Saturday, with the entire Khan family in Pune to celebrate the occasion, Aamir decided to give her a priceless gift: the actor went out of his way to source copies of five speeches of Maulana Azad. "He got the speeches from the National Archives of India (NAI). The family listened together and were left teary-eyed," says an insider.

This was the first time that his siblings heard Maulana Azad's voice, since they could never get their hands on the speeches. Later, Aamir apparently gifted the recordings to Nikhat.

This has been one of the the busiest years for Aamir. He juggled his TV show, Satyamev Jayate, Talaash (his production) and Dhoom 3 (in pre-production stage). As a result, on this occasion, he was very keen to spend quality time with his family.

And as Papa Aamir was spotted at the city airport on Sunday night with a protective arm cradling Azad, it reaffirmed the reticent actor's familial instinct.
