Aamir Khan turns designer
The actor’s doodles are on the T-shirts designed specially for 3 Idiots.
He’s a much-acclaimed actor. His maiden production,
Lagaan
, won him an Oscar nomination. His debut as a director got him rave reviews. And now, Aamir Khan has turned designer with T-shirts for his forthcoming film,
3 Idiots
, which is being hyped as the big Christmas attraction.
According to a source associated with Vinod Chopra Productions, “Between shots, Aamir would sometimes doodle on the pad. Some of these doodles were amazing and complimented the theme of the film. Everyone who saw the designs loved them. And Aamir came up with the idea of launching his designer range of Ts. He has a knack of connecting with the youth. The T-shirts mirror a funky attitude and an irreverent outspokenness.”
After director Rajkumar Hirani wrapped up the shooting, the team was working on tie-ups as part of the marketing and promotional strategy. By then Aamir had worked on some designs. After the deal was finalised, Aamir made a couple of more designs. In all, he has made 10 designs.
When talking about endorsing brands in a recent interview, the actor had said, “When I endorse a brand, I do it as Aamir Khan. But for
3 Idiots
, the characters, the look of the film, the message it conveys has to be kept in mind when formalising any tie-up.” If the designs are any indication, they reflect not only the perfectionist actor’s inimitable style but also mirror the spirit of
3 Idiots
.
Although this is the first time Khan has designed for a movie, he has associated with clothing brands twice before. The first time was during
Rang De Basanti
and then later for
Ghajini
.
