Ali Merchant comes clean
Actor Ali Merchant is miffed with Sara’s parents for kicking up a controversy after they said that the two are already married. He clears the air about his tv nikah.
After a much-hyped TV wedding with fiancée Sara Khan, actor Ali Merchant is now out of the
Bigg Boss
house, and in the eye of the storm.
The actor, who had gone as a guest on the show, is miffed with Sara’s parents for kicking up a controversy after they said that the two are already married. “Sara does not get along with her parents because they are not concerned about her. She supports her family financially. I know them only as Sara’s parents, so I’m not concerned either,” he says.
Reacting to their accusation that he is after Sara’s money, Ali says, “There is nothing of that sort. I come from an affluent family. I have my own business, and I have done 15-20 TV shows.”
As for reports that the two were already married back in 2008, Ali retorts, “Why would we marry again? We were engaged, and the pictures being circulated are from that ceremony.”
He also denies that the channel paid the couple Rs 50 lakh. “We don’t need to do this for money or publicity,” he says.
