Bappi, here’s Guppy!

Guppy from Toonpur is ready to compete with Bappi. The character from the Ajay Devgn-Kajol animation film called Toonpur Ka Superhero, has a striking resemblance with Lahiri.

Gold ornaments and black glasses with a combination of a tracksuit, something that the official King of Disco in Bollywood, Bappi Lahiri, has been associated with for the longest time.

But Guppy from Toonpur is ready to compete with him. The character from the Ajay Devgn-Kajol animation film called Toonpur Ka Superhero, has a striking resemblance with Lahiri.

He wears black glasses and an enormous amount of jewellery with a white suit similar to India’s Beethoven. Guppy loves to sing too and wants to prove himself to all his friends in Toonpur and become a Toon Idol some day.

The only thing that’s now apparently bothering the producers of this long-in-the-making film is whether Bappi Lahiri would object to the character being strinkingly similar to him.

Their worries aren’t baseless because Manoj Kumar, in 2007, objected to a duplicate of his being used to represent him in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Our efforts to contact Bappi Lahiri and the producers of the film were futile since none reverted.
