Saif was stationed in London for a Pataudi family dinner when the filmmakers needed him to sign their film’s contract. As Bebo was headed there, she agreed to take the contract with her. Luthria confirms, “Yes, Kareena was a lot of help. I have just come back from a trip abroad and am going out again for a recce of locations. If we had waited for our meeting, it would have happened only by the end of the month. Bebo was travelling to London the next day for the Pataudi dinner. So I thought, what could be a more beautiful courier than her? (sic). We gave her the letter for Saif to sign, and asked her bring it back.”

Luthria, who teams up with Saif after a gap of 13 years (they last worked together in Kachche Dhaage, 1999), adds that Saif was very keen to sign the contract right away.

“Usually film contracts take a lot of time because there is much to discuss and decide upon, but both Saif and I are very impulsive. Now I am waiting for Kareena to report back,” he smiles.

Calling the yet-untitled film a “complete masala entertainer,” the director says, “I would call it a strong love story with a twist. It’s also my first co-production.” It will go on the floors next year after he wraps up Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2.

“I am glad to work with Saif again. He is an extremely popular actor with a very wide range,” he says. “I have been working on the script for some time now, even through The Dirty Picture (2011). While I am busy with Once Upon… 2, a foreign team will deal with my new film’s VFX part. People are saying it’s a superhero film, but it’s not, though it surely will have an unusual angle.”
