Here’s your chance to get your name into the Limca Book of Records. Till October 7, a popular toy store is giving everyone a chance to participate in building a model fire truck using 1,90,000 Lego pieces. Once completed, the installation will be the largest in the world, with regard to the number of pieces used for putting it together.

“We’ve already had about 300 registrations at the store and over 400 on our Facebook page, so we’re expecting a huge turnout,” says Sudhir Pai, senior vice president and head of Hamleys. More than 1,500 kids are expected to participate in the event along with professional Lego builders, who will guide them closely through the process.

Pai insists that the activity is aimed more towards customer engagement than creating records: “We constantly host events that promote learning and development. Some time back, we had the National Beyblade Championship. Before that, WWE wrestler, Khali had visited our store too.”

The event is being held over three days at the company’s flagship outlet in the courtyard at High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel. “The store is huge, but it’s too small to accommodate an installation of this kind,” jokes Pai, adding, “There are also many who just want to come and watch, so there will be plenty of people around.”

An international property of Lego, the event has never been held in the country before. It began with a large installation in Vietnam last year, and will travel to South Africa with a similar concept next year.
