“My priorities have changed. The first thing I wanna do is theatre. The second is direct movies. Acting in movies is now number three on the list,” the Daily Star quoted him as telling the New York Post.

The actor had started his acting career in a 1970s college production of Shakespeare’s Othello, before winning critical acclaim for his role in A Soldier’s Play and Broadway’s Julius Caesar in 2005. He is now set to relocate to New York ahead of his upcoming stint in a revival of August Wilson’s Fences, and he is excited at the prospect of performing in front of a live audience again after years spent sacrificing his first love for the sake of his family.

"I always felt bad with eight shows a week — you can’t get home. I always felt bad doing it (a Broadway run)," he said.
