The Men in Blue garnered massive support from Bollywood not just at Wankhede Stadium, but off it too. As MS Dhoni finished off the match with a huge six, actor Imran Khan shouted out loud at his home in Bandra. “I was shooting for Karan Johar’s film all day, so I celebrated the win with Avantika and family at home,” says Imran who was a nervous wreck when Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were dismissed early on in the game.

Deepika Padukone couldn’t control her excitement while shooting for Desi Boyz in London. “I popped a bottle of champagne with cast members and cheered loudly before going back to the shoot,” says Deepika, who feels that the Sri Lankan score was “one of the most difficult targets” to chase.

Meanwhile, Chitrangda Singh had a rocking house party in the Capital. “I had a great time because my friends and family had come to Delhi,” says Chitrangda. In fact, golfer Jyoti Randhawa’s wife was very nervous when two big Indian wickets were lost in quick succession.

Abhishek Bachchan, who saw the match at his Juhu residence says, “I still can’t believe that we won. It hasn’t sunk in yet. We proved to the world that we are the best. The sweetest moment was when they all dedicated the win to Sachin. Now the world knows what the sound of 1.2 billion people roaring sounds like.”

Similarly, Prateik was delirious after Team India went all the way. “But unfortunately, I had to cut short festivities at my friend’s place because I had to report for rehearsals at 6 am on Sunday,” he says. According to the Dhobi Ghat actor, Sri Lanka’s fielding was so good that it looked like India was chasing 300. “It took a while for the feeling to sink in that we had become world champions,” he adds.

Sharman Joshi, on the other hand, was partying with his friends at his farmhouse in Alibaugh till the wee hours of the morning. “It was a superb win. I really want to thank the Indian team for this because it makes us so proud. They all played like true champions. Thank you Dhoni and company for giving us this moment to cherish after 28 years,” says the 3 Idiots star.
