Hollywood superstar Denzel Washington regrets rejecting a part in thriller Seven, which finally went to Brad Pitt.

The two-time Academy award winner said he was the first choice of director David Fincher to play Det, but he turned down the offer because he thought the film would be too dark, the Entertainment Weekly reported.

Pitt took the part opposite Morgan Freeman and his then-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow in the 1995 film.

The Training Day star said he still regrets his decision.

“They offered me the Brad Pitt part, but I was like, ‘This is so dark and evil’. Then, when I saw the movie, I was like, ‘Oh, shoot’,” the 55-year-old actor said.
