Kylie and Dannii Minogue have discovered that their mum, a Brit, sailed to Australia on a 10-pound ticket in 1955 to start a new life. The Aussie singers have found out the secret following the release of passenger lists from a 1950s emigration scheme, which names their mother, Carol Jones.

Jones was born in Wales and moved Down Under with her parents when she was 12. She married Ron Minogue, before settling in Melbourne, where the family still lives.
“People come up to me and tell me I’m more British than the British. I’ve lived here (in the UK) for more than ten years and I feel totally at home, though in my heart, I’ll always be an Aussie,” the

quoted Kylie as saying.
A recent uncovering of an 1891 census also disclosed that the great-grandfather of Minogue sisters, Morgan Riddiford, was a convict at HM Prison Gloucester, England. However, the crimes he’d been jailed for were not mentioned.
