Sanjay Munda, a resident of Rajrappa, 75 km from Ranchi, killed his wife five days ago, police said. He then confined himself to a room along with the body.
The killing was detected when Sanjay's elder brother found an unbearable smell coming from the room and opened it, only to find Sanjay sleeping beside the body of his wife.
When Sanjay woke up, he drove his brother away with an axe. He was later captured by villagers and handed over to police.
According to police, Sanjay has admitted to killing his wife, alleging she had illicit relations with another villager.
