“I have never spent so much time with my family, and it’s been wonderful,” says Pathan, who last played for India in February. He is busy supervising the building of his house in Baroda. Is his Australia-based fiancée, Shivangi, helping him? “Well, I’ll tell you at the right time,” Pathan blushes, maintaining that bhai Yusuf will get hitched first.

“We are, in fact, looking for a match for him,” he says. “But, an arranged marriage is a difficult matter.” So, Irfan is working on his brother’s social skills. “I’m trying to help him overcome his shyness and come out of his shell, but he is an 18th century man,” jokes the pacer.
