Shah Rukh Khan, Actor
He is one of the most famous alumnus of Hansraj College who pursued Economics Honours from the college. “ I miss my college buddies and the fights that would take place in the college hostel ,” said Shah Rukh Khan in an interview. The actor was very active in sports and used to play football in college.
Anurag Kashyap, Filmmaker
He pursued Zoology and graduated in the year 1993. During his college days, Kashyap had joined a street theatre group. He used to love hanging out at the college canteen and the back gate of Miranda House. “ My cards and flowers always got rejected on Valentines Day,” said Anurag Kashyap
Konkona Sen Sharma, Actor
She graduated from the college in 2001 with a degree in English. She was a member of the dramatics society of the college. "I would never go back home early. I used to stay back in the auditorium to practice for my plays," says Konkona Sen Sharma. The actor used to love hanging around in Kamla Nagar market and also used to regularly frequent the eateries around Tibetan Monastery and Majnu Ka tila.
Manoj Bajpai, Actor
Manoj Bajpai says that he was attentive in class yet managed to have fun in college. “I would hang out in the canteen, eat at the roadside stalls with my friends and would do theatre. But I was focused on my studies, “ he said.
Imtiaz Ali, Director
A graduate in English Honours, Ali also founded Iptida, the theatre society of his college. He loved hanging out at the college gardens, the tea vendor outside Miranda House and the canteen. “My hostel room number was 91. That room was jinxed. Anyone who stayed in it either ran away or flunked. I broke this jinx”, said Imtiaz Ali. He was ragged as a fresher and was made to walk Miranda House in the buff.
Arjun Rampal, Actor
Rampal pursued Economics Honours in college. “I was a regular at the cafeteria of St Stephens College which has the best
cutlets. I loved to hangout around the ridge area and loved the omelets over there,” said Arjun Rampal. On his first day of college, he asked a senior to carry his luggage, as a result of which, he was severely ragged. He often hung out at the back gate of Miranda House College.
Kirori Mal College
Amitabh Bachchan, Actor
The hostel room occupied by Amitabh Bachchan is the most sought after room even today. In fact, he was even ragged in his first year, but he has more fond memories to share. “I did a lot of theatre in college and loved doing Shakespear’s adaptations”, he said.
Jesus and Mary College
Neha Dhupia, Actor
For Neha Dhupia who graduated in History, three years in college was one of the best times of her life not for the days spent but for the friends she made over there. “ I am still in touch with those friends and it is the days spent with them that I miss,” she said.
Minissha Lamba, Actor
The actor, who graduated in English Honours, was often short on attendance and her teachers would threaten to flunk her in exams if she did not become regular. “My only aim in college was that I should not miss my U-Special bus to go home. I worked throughout my college days,” said Minissha Lamba.
Nandita Das, Actor
Nandita Das did Geography Honours here. “ I would finish my classes at the University and go straight to learn Odissi dance and then to the street play rehearsals with Safdar Hashmi and others in Jan Natya Manch, said Das.
