Hollywood actor Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have raised $88,000 for charity by reigniting their on-screen rivalry in a real life battle, offering bids for an appearance in the next Bridget Jones movie.

The two actors, who battle to obtain Jones's affection, which is played by actress Renee Zellweger, in the hit movie, put their rivalry to the best use at the fund raising event in London, reported Contactmusic. The Notting Hill star put in an opening bid of USD.

The amount collected will head towards broadcaster Mariella Frostrup's 'Gender Rights and Equality Action Trust (Great)' initiative, which aims to create greater gender equality in developing countries.
