On this Friendship Day, HT City takes a look at best friends-turned-enemies in tinseltown.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Rani Mukerjee
Ash and Rani were the best of friends. Rani considered Ash her “older sister” and even took make-up tips from her. The friendship took a U-turn when Rani discreetly stepped into Ash’s role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte.

Aishwarya Rai BachchcanSRK had asked Ash to pack up after Salman Khan had come and created havoc on the sets of the film, while the two were still a couple. According to Ash's friends, what hurt the actress was that Rani didn’t bother to tell her that she had taken on the film, unlike Preity Zinta, who called Ash when she accepted Veer-Zara, a film originally written for Ash.

Imran Khan- Ranbir Kapoor
They were both successful newcomers and good friends. Then, Ranbir went on to score hits with Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani, while Imran had to deal with the non-performing Kidnap and Luck.

Soon, Ranbir started giving statements that the two were really not the best of friends, and that it was all media hype. Ranbir did not take kindly to Imran’s fiancée Avantika criticising his performance in Rajneeti publicly, and in return skipped the premiere of
I Hate Luv Storys.

Kareena Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra
The two pretty actresses bonded while shooting for Aitraaz. Priyanka was a newcomer and Kareena extended a hand of friendship. However, things turned sour when Priyanka walked away with the accolades for the film while Kareena’s performance went unnoticed.

Bebo distanced herself from PiggyChops and, when their paths met years later at a concert, they reportedly had a huge verbal brawl. It hasn’t helped that Priyanka
is now close to Bebo’s ex, actor Shahid Kapoor. Kareena even has reportedly told friends that “Priyanka is not the right girl for Shahid.”

Bipasha Basu- Lara Dutta
The once-good friends made an appearance on filmmaker Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee With Karan and took potshots at some other actresses together. Things changed recently when Lara came out with a fitness DVD immediately after Bipasha did.

The Jism actress felt Lara was aping her. Lara, on her part, lashed out and said, “I think people need to be informed before they get upset about something” and “If others want to react to it, I can’t help it, be it Bipasha or anyone else.”

Farah Khan- Shah Rukh Khan
Farah Khan lost patience with her ever-busy buddy when she felt that he was treating her and her husband, filmmaker Shirish Kunder, badly, by not starting work on her film Happy New Year and Shirish’s film Joker, and instead giving priority to Ra.One and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2.

Farah’s appearance at SRK’s house Mannat started diminishing, and then she announced Tees Maar Khan with Akshay. The two crossed paths at Sushmita Sen’s I am she contest, but didn’t exchange words and looked uncomfortable around each other.
