Ask him the secret of his forever youthful looks and 45-yr-old actor Aamir Khan says, “Drinking 4 litres of water a day”. But, when asked if that means he rubbishes news of him getting cosmetic surgery to remove wrinkles, the actor goes into a long pause, and replies, “All I can say is that I have no moral issues with that, too.”
Intelligent — and often diplomatic — replies are the trademark of Aamir, who was in Delhi on Wednesday to promote his upcoming production
Peepli Live
. About rumours that the film’s been ‘ghost-directed’ by him, he says, “I don’t even know how to answer that allegation anymore. I went on the sets of
Peepli Live
just once…that too when the entire unit sent me a message saying, ‘What kind of a producer are you? You don’t even visit the sets!’ The film is totally the brainchild and work of director Anusha Rizvi.”
Asked why he chose to produce such an offbeat subject, he says, “I like taking risky decisions. And they turn out to be right. My mom always says,
‘Aamir aap aisi risky filmein banaate hain…bas aapki kismat achhi hai ki hit ho jaati hain.’
Although on a professional high, Aamir admits to struggling in his personal life. “The family is still struggling to come to terms with the recent loss of my father,” he says.
He also makes sure to spend quality time with wife, Kiran. “We sit and chat about life, kids, work... everything.” Is his son Junaid revelling in female attention after his photos from the
3 Idiots
premier were splashed all over? “I didn’t know Junaid, too, has a fan following. We’re very close… he’s my guinea pig. I make him and his friends watch my movies before release. But, he doesn’t discuss girlfriends with me.”
After a much-hyped debut on
, his tweeting has been erratic. Also, tweets in which he spelt Amitabh Bachchan’s name as ‘Amith’ and Vidya Balan as ‘Vidhya’ led to speculation whether his wife, who is South Indian, is tweeting on his behalf. Aamir sheepishly rebuts, “No, no. I do it myself. The spelling errors happened because maybe I’m dyslexic (laughs).
