One needs to work on the spirit since nothing else brings a sense of drive. I am now the mother of two little daughters and that gives me the maximum energy, says Sushmita Sen.

At 34, actress Sushmita Sen exudes the energy and exuberance of a 12-year-old. Interestingly, her elder daughter Renee is 11-years-old now. “One needs to work on the spirit since nothing else brings a sense of drive. I am now the mother of two little daughters and that gives me the maximum energy. I feel younger than I have ever felt before.”

Sushmita’s recently adopted younger daughter Alisah is five-months-old. But it’s Renee who’s playing little momma to not just Alisah, but to Sushmita as well. “She has gone from being a little girl to my mother and she makes a lovely little mother. She feels she can do everything for Alisah. She successfully changes her diapers and pulls me off from meetings to make sure I spend time with Alisah,” she said.

While on family matters, we spot a huge rock on Sush’s middle finger. The actress, however, assures that wedding bells are not ringing any time soon. “This is to remind me and all of you that I don’t need a man in my life to have diamonds. Though marriage will happen, some day.” And her kind of man, she says, will be “someone extremely secure, someone who can say ‘I am her husband’ as opposed to ‘she is my wife’.”

Right now, it’s I Am She (the pageant to decide India’s entry to the 2010 Ms Universe pageant) that’s keeping her busy. “I used to see number 47 everywhere. Then I figured that in Kaballah’s Tree of Life, 47 means ‘I am’. So I named the pageant, ‘I Am She’. Girls can apply for it at

by March 13.” she signs off.
