This week HT City takes you on a trip of Delhi through the eyes of Vineet Malhotra, a TV anchor with a popular sports channel.entertainment Updated: Jul 06, 2010 01:26 IST
Where do you dine when you want to splurge?
I love Chinese delicacies and nothing can beat the food at Zen in Connaught Place (23357455). Their shredded lamb in garlic sauce is just awesome.
Your favourite café in Delhi
Mocha, Defence Colony, is my pet hang out (46588445).
Where did you go out on your first date?
Well, it was the year 1994 and the Basant Lok market in Vasant Vihar was like the Time Square of Delhi. The good old Nirula’s is where I took my first date for a Hot Chocolate Fudge. Very Romantic!
Your favourite market.
GK-1 market is by far the best place to get what you want. It is also one of the oldest markets in New Delhi and going back there brings back old memories.
Where you used to hang out during school/college days?
I went to Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, and the closest place for us cash crunched school going boys was the Basant Lok Market where Priya’s was always waiting for us to showcase a brilliant English movie.
Florist: Ferns & Petals, Vasant Vihar (26144792)
Tailor: The Raymonds Shop in South Extension-I (41646368)
Hair stylist: Oxford Cut (Vasant Vihar)(43232114)
Gym instructor: Deepak Dogra (Fitness Mantra)
Your latest outfit?
I just bought a pair of trousers from Tommy Hilfiger from Select City walk in Saket. (40588771).
Delhi’s coolest monument.
The Red Fort not only symbolises the tenacity to withstand the sands of time but it also represents the very essence of freedom and democracy which is re-iterated by the leader of our country every year on the 15th of August.
After late night parties, where do you go to eat?
Well, I usually prefer coming home and eating food after a late night party but when the quest for hunger is insatiable, then there is only one stop where you can pop some food and that is Comesum at the Nizamuddin Railway Station (32934963). Open 24 hours.
Your favourite gadget?
My I-pod is like my best pal. It not only keeps me close to my music but also carries all the pictures and documents I will ever need. Plus the clarity of sound and the user friendliness is oh so lovely.
What phone are you using currently?
The Nokia N95 8 GB.
As told to Aakriti Sawhney.
