Actor Anil Kapoor doesn’t feel the need to stop Sonam from “speaking her mind.” Thanks to her unbridled comments on a variety of issues, Sonam has been making headlines constantly. Besides apparent potshots at Ranbir Kapoor on Koffee With Karan and locking horns with writer Shobhaa De by calling her a “fossil” and “porn writer”, she has now hit back at her critics on Twitter, saying she “gives a damn”.

So does daddy. “I am not angry or embarrassed about it,” says Anil, about Sonam’s uninhibited remarks. “I feel today’s generation is very different. They have a mind of their own. And my mantra is, ‘let them fight their own battles and learn from it.’ I have lived my life with like that. So, contrary to what has been suggested, I have never stopped Sonam from speaking her mind.”

“If my daughter is saying something wrong, I am sure she will realise it herself. But I am very clear that I don’t want wimps and hypocrisy in my house,” says Anil.
