She was the voice that became a part of many childhood memories with films like Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, but when Julie Andrews took to the stage for her much-hyped comeback show, it became plain that she was lip-syncing.
During her first performance on a London stage in over 30 years, the 74-year-old Academy winning actress left the 14,000 strong audience disappointed. Due to a botched operation on her vocal cords 15 years ago, the icon had to lip-sync.
“I am sure that most of you are aware that around 14 years ago, I had an operation. I certainly cannot sing as high or as well now as you’ve just seen up on that screen,” she said.
