Anna Kendrick refused to tell anyone she had landed a role in Up in the air for weeks — because she was convinced that the movie bosses had made a mistake hiring her.
The Twilight star appears opposite George Clooney in the drama, which has already been nominated for a string of top honours at 2010 Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The 24-year-old was stunned to learn that her audition was successful. She kept the news to herself for weeks, fearing there had been a casting error.
She told British morning show GMTV, “I’m really superstitious. I feel the second you start to celebrate, something’s going to go horribly wrong — so I didn’t tell anyone for weeks.”
She added, “I kept waiting for them (movie makers) to realise they’d made a mistake but then eventually I called my mum and she burst my eardrums.”
