Charity Women's Aid, which initiated the campaign, hopes the ads that will go on air on Thursday in Britain will highlight the fact that women from all walks of life can suffer abuse, reported the Sun online.

"Domestic violence kills two women every week, but we rarely hear about it," said Knightley.

In the ad the 25-year-old actress gets kicked by her boyfriend in the stomach, smacked in the face and has her hair pulled.
