The footage - made for UK charity Women's Aid - ends with Knightley being repeatedly kicked on the floor. It was deemed too violent for UK TV schedules by advertising approval body Clearcast.

But Knightley's real-life partner and Pride & Prejudice co-star Rupert Friend has hit out at the UK advertising watchdog after the actress' anti-domestic violence advert was banned from British television. He has blasted Clearcast's decision calling it "ridiculous".
