The 24-year-old had finished her jail term only last month and is facing another stint in prison. But Lohan says that she is taking responsibility for her actions and is ready for the consequences, reported

Los Angeles Times

online.

The

Mean Girls

star has taken to Twitter to plead her case, saying that she is "a work in progress" and working hard to overcome drug abuse.

"I am taking responsibility for my actions. Regrettably, I did, in fact, fail my most recent drug test. Substance abuse is a disease which unfortunately doesn't go away overnight. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day," she wrote on her Twitter page.

The actress, who was released on August 2 after serving 13 days in jail for drug offences, described testing positive for cocaine last week as "a mishap".

Lohan is expected to give herself up to probation officers tomorrow morning.

"I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences," she added.

Lohan spent 23 days in a court-ordered rehab facility after her release. But she immediately became engulfed in the LA party scene after her release.
