No Modi biopic for Deshmukh

Filmmaker Kunal Deshmukh is bemused by rumours that he’s been approached by the producers, Percept, to direct the Jannat sequel. “I had just one meeting with the producers. They offered me Commissioner and asked if I could start work on the film, immediately,” he says.

But, Deshmukh says he had to refuse the film, a biopic on former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, “I refused because I plan to start shooting my next film by the end of the year.”

Deshmukh, however, reveals that he has worked on a concept for Jannat 2 with Emraan Hashmi, who acted in the original, in mind. “You can’t take either Emraan or cricket out of Jannat 2,” Deshmukh points out. “Expectations from part 2 will be huge. It has to be bigger, bolder and dirtier.”
