What fitting punishment should be given to people who drive after having alcohol more than the prescribed limits?

The arrested person can get back on the road the next day as it is a bailable offence. The punishment should be be non-bailable so that they never do it again.

Fine and imprisonment are not enough. The license should be confiscated permanently and the offender should be made to do community service.
