At the Smithsonian Institution, a rare 31.06-carat Wittelsbach-Graff diamond is on display.

The fascinating thing about this fancy, deep greyish blue diamond is that it was discovered in India in the 17th century, and purchased by London-based jeweller Laurence Graff in 2008 for $24.3 million. Currently it is on display at the Museum of Natural History in New York from October through January 2.
