Celebrities are known for their jet-set lifestyle, love for all things gourmet and expensive tastes in fashion and other things. Now, a few of them have come together for a calendar by an animal rescue organisation that encourages people to adopt stray dogs and cats from Mumbai’s streets.

Posing with their pooch or feline, who was once a stray, the star-studded pet parent line-up includes Bruna Abdullah, Nimrat Kaur, Ahana Deol, Priyanka Bose, Paresh Kamath and Mukul Deora, among others. And there’s John Abraham on the cover, hanging out with not one, but three hounds (and all of them are up for adoption).

“There are 12 pet parents posing. And once we started making noise about the calendar, getting them on board was not that difficult. In fact, the number of celebs who have adopted strays far exceeds the number of months,” says Tara Kaushal, who volunteered to help with the World For All (WFA) Calendar 2014. Her husband Sahil Mane was the photographer on the project.

The initiative hopes to make adopting strays aspirational. “The general idea is that you get a stray if you cannot afford a pure bred. We wanted to change that,” says Tara. WFA, founded by Ruchi Nadkarni and Taronish Bulsara, also runs an active spay-neutering campaign. The calendar will be available in early November for `200. Tara shares some behind-the-scenes anecdotes about the stars and their pets.
