Good looking employees attract more perks and higher pay packages than their below average looking colleagues, a US based author says. Professor Daniel S Hamermesh at the University of Texas-Austin studied what he calls the economics of beauty for about 20 years and concluded that beauty sells.
In his book ‘Beauty Pays’, he has claimed that good looking people enjoy perks beyond their pay - such as party invites, business travel and office privileges - while less attractive workers are overlooked and can often be victims of discrimination, the Daily Mail reported.Professor Hamermesh’s study estimated that attractive people earned on average about 145,000 pounds more in a lifetime than those with below-average looks. The research also revealed that a beautiful woman has the potential to earn four per cent more while a handsome man three per cent more than their plain counterparts.
