The singer made the revelation to confidante Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who taped the interviews between 1999 and 2001. According to Contactmusic, the King of Pop described Diana as "my type", adding: "She was good, I loved her very much. she was my type, for sure."

Speaking about the time he dated actress O'Neal early in his career, Jackson said: "When I held Tatum's hand, I was, like, in heaven. It was the most magical thing. It was better than kissing her, it was better than anything. I remember we went to this club, and I don't go to clubs, which was called the Roxy. And I watching the band, I was sitting there, and underneath the table, she was holding my hand, and I was, like, melting...fireworks going off.”

He added: "That was one of the loves of my life. I think she loved me as much as I loved her, you know? We dated a lot. We, we went out a lot. Her pictures were all over my wall, my mirror, everything."

The star then went on to discuss his relationship with Shields, whom he met at the Oscars. Jackson told his friend: "We exchanged numbers and I was up all night, singing, spinning around my room, just so happy. It was great."
