He’s gone blue in the face saying Raajneeti is not inspired by the life of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and yet, director Prakash Jha has now been slapped with a lawsuit from a social worker claiming the film defames Gandhi.

Naseem Khan, a social worker, has moved a Mumbai civil court, seeking a ban on the film. Khan’s petition alleged that Katrina Kaif’s role is based on Sonia Gandhi’s life and Jha should not malign her by showing her in intimate scenes.

Talking to HT City, Jha said, “I have been stating right from the beginning that the film portrays no one, living or dead. I am sure and confident about the content in the film and we’ll defend our film.”

Asked if the film will be delayed, given that the court has adjourned the hearing till June 10, while the scheduled release date is June 4, he said, “What can be done. We will wait and watch and allow things to take a natural course.”
Incidentally, the film is yet to be cleared by the Censor Board.
