Ramayana boards international flight
The revered Hindu epic Ramayana has caught the attention of international filmmakers too, it seems.
Renowned international filmmaker Angus Strachan is making a multi-million-dollar budget film Between Two Worlds on Ramayan's characters 'Ram' and 'Sita' with a "Shakespearean twist".
Speaking at the India-EU Film Initiative at the Nehru Centre here over the weekend, Stratchan announced he would soon visit India to cast a couple of Indian actresses -- Aishwarya Rai and Ayesha Takia -- in his film.
He also appreciated the role played by the Film Initiative in bringing the film communities of Europe and India closer.
Meanwhile, the Nehru Centre Director Monika Kapil Mohta highlighted the fact that Indian's emergence as a 'Soft Power' was largely due to its incredible performance in films and culture.
The director of India-EU Film Initiative Pervaiz Alam said: "The golden era in the commercial sense has just started for the Indian film industry" as surveys ranked India as the fastest growing market in the world for spendings in media and entertainment in the next five years.
