Delhi’s pet cemeteries help bury your beloved pet responsibly and with the dignity they deserve. They love them and take special care of them when they are alive. But most pet owners struggle to find a place where they can let their beloved pets die in peace and tranquillity. Finding a place to bury their pets is, in fact a big dilemma faced by many pet owners in the Capital. While many bury their pets in vacant areas near their houses, many don’t even find space for that.
But the city does have some pet cemeteries that ensure a peaceful place for the pets to rest in peace. Jeevashram, in Rajokri, is one such place. The ground, called the Garden of Eternal Peace, has a lush green landscape. “The idea behind doing this is to give dignity to pets in their death. Every year on the death anniversary of their pets, people visit the burial ground and make donations. The whole environment has a peaceful feel to it,” says Dr. Vinod Sharma of Jeevashram.
The cost of burying a small dog is Rs 4,000 and a large dog is Rs 5,000. At a price of Rs1,000, people can get a plaque with memory words put on their pets' tombstone. Paws Pet Crematorium has an electric crematorium, a prayer hall and a wall of memories.”
“The prayer hall in the crematorium has bhajans playing in the background. We have ensured that the crematorium is 100 percent eco-friendly. It also has a facility where people can collect ashes of their pets,” says Sunil Kalra, who along with vet DR. RT Sharma, started this crematorium last year.
The crematorium charges start at Rs 3,000 and go up depending on the weight of the animal. Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre has a burial ground for all kinds of animals. The burial rate for animals that were treated here, is Rs1,500. For others, the price is Rs3,000. The facility available here is very basic. Workers simply dig up the ground and bury the pet.
