Author JK Rowling has found fame and a lot of fortune with her hit book series about the life and adventures of the boy wizard Harry Potter.

However, the author has now come under attack and been labelled a 'Scrooge' after she refused to donate a 16.99 pound book to a charity auction.

According to the Mirror, fundraisers at the Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary in St Anne's asked millionaire Rowling to donate a signed copy of the latest Potter book Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' for a charitable cause, but were left disappointed when Rowling turned down their request.

Rowling's refusal has now earned her the rather unsavoury nickname of 'Scrooge' among the fundraisers.
