Rugged look is back in B-town
Move over chocolate boys, the rugged look is back and all the hunks of Bollywood are sporting it. Actors Abhishek Bachchan, Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan— are some of those bringing up the beard, the moustache and the grizzle back with a vengence.entertainment Updated: May 10, 2010 14:18 IST
Abhishek Bachchan has grown a moustache and stubble for Raavan, Ajay Devgn has got a grungy buzz and stubble for his upcoming comedy Golmaal 3, actor Salman Khan will be seen with a moustache as a rustic cop in his home production Dabangg and Hrithik Roshan looks hotter than ever in his new bearded and long haired look for Guzaarish.
It’s not just tinsel town, the look was hot on the international ramp as well. “This year’s fashion weeks at New York and Milan saw male models sporting the old and rugged look,” says fashion designer Manoviraj Khosla.
Fashion Experts predict the macho look is likely to be a favourite for a while. “With junior Bachchan exhibiting a moustache with his dhoti and gamchha look, I think this rugged macho look is really in vogue in Bollywood,” says designer Nitin Bal Chauhan.
He, however, cautions that trends in Bollywood are often transitory and says, “No look can stay forever. One can enjoy watching a bearded look on weekends but not so on weekdays,” So, what next? “We might see the clean shaven and a tidy look return in a year from now,” says Khosla.
